Model profile

Model history and generations

From launch to today

Jeep relaunched the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer for 2022 on the body-on-frame WS platform, positioning the Grand Wagoneer as the luxury tier above the standard Wagoneer. The extended-length "L" models joined for 2023, adding around 305 mm of overall length — most of it benefiting third-row space and cargo volume behind it.

Powertrain and equipment

Engines, drivetrain and trims

Engines and drivetrain in detail

The Grand Wagoneer L is powered by the 3.0-litre twin-turbo Hurricane inline-six in High Output tune, producing about 510 hp and 500 lb-ft — more torque than the outgoing 6.4 HEMI it replaced, which itself made roughly 471 hp.

Trim levels and variants

The Grand Wagoneer L is a five-door, three-row full-size SUV seating seven or eight. Trims are structured as Series I, Series II and Series III, with a blacked-out Obsidian appearance option.

Vehicle selection

North American market and suitability

Used availability in the USA

As a recent, premium model the used pool consists largely of low-mileage 2023-and-newer cars, many coming off lease or from one careful owner.

When importing makes sense

The Grand Wagoneer L suits the buyer who wants a full-size, three-row luxury SUV with genuine towing muscle and off-road ability, in a package that is essentially unavailable through European channels.

Pre-purchase review

Model-specific inspection points

Reliability and common problems

The technical assessment depends on model year, powertrain, software status, maintenance history, recalls and the condition of the specific vehicle. USCar Trader can review these points within the agreed vehicle-inspection scope.

Germany and Europe

Differences, adaptation and registration

How US versions differ

US cars display speed in mph, use combined red rear lamps without a separate amber indicator or rear fog lamp, and follow US daytime-running-light logic.

From US purchase to registration

The assessment depends on the specific vehicle and the circumstances of the transaction. Please contact USCar Trader before purchase; we review any possible duty benefit and provide non-binding support. Import VAT and other costs are considered separately.

TÜV, approval and license plates

For German approval the Grand Wagoneer L typically needs a rear fog lamp fitted, the rear indicators adjusted to amber where required, a headlight beam-pattern check, and the odometer and speedometer documented in kilometres.

USCar Trader services

Inspection, purchase processing and escrow

As a buyer based in Germany, you do not have to inspect the vehicle yourself in the United States or Canada. Within the agreed scope, USCar Trader can coordinate document review, a separately commissioned on-site inspection and purchase processing.

  • Vehicle profile and history: The profile can show the VIN, US title status and available history records. No data source guarantees that every earlier event was reported.
  • Optional CARFAX report: Additional reported maintenance or service entries can be included. The report is not a complete service book or proof of every interval.
  • On-site inspection / USCT AutoCheck: USCar Trader can arrange a separately booked vehicle inspection. Agreed visible and accessible areas are documented. Road or functional tests require suitable access and seller approval; the visual review is not a lift inspection or workshop diagnosis.
  • Purchase processing and escrow: After approval, USCar Trader can coordinate seller contact, negotiation, contract and the escrow and import service. Fees, payment route and responsibilities are recorded in advance.
  • Recalls: Open safety recalls can be checked by VIN through the NHTSA recall search; they do not describe overall condition.

Covered inspection points are agreed in advance. An on-site inspection records condition at the appointment and is not a guarantee.

Next step: Before commissioning, USCar Trader and the customer agree which document, history, inspection and transaction checks suit the vehicle and are included in the service. This records what was actually checked.

Questions and answers

Common questions about importing this model

When should USCar Trader be contacted before purchase?

Whether a duty benefit may be available for the specific vehicle is assessed individually. Please contact USCar Trader before purchase; we review the case and provide non-binding support through the process.

What engine does the Grand Wagoneer L use?

The 3.0-litre twin-turbo Hurricane inline-six in High Output form, producing about 510 hp and 500 lb-ft, replacing the earlier 6.4-litre HEMI V8. It drives all four wheels through an 8-speed automatic.

How much can it tow?

When properly equipped, in the region of 4.5 tonnes, which is exceptional for a luxury SUV and one of the model's key strengths.

Is the Grand Wagoneer L reliable?

It is too new for a settled record. Focus on documented oil-change history for the Hurricane engine, correct air-suspension operation, and confirmation that all software updates and recalls are closed.

Does this vehicle automatically qualify for a 0% import-duty rate?

No, not automatically. A 0% EU import-duty rate may be available for a vehicle covered by Regulation (EU) 2026/1455 that has US origin and is imported directly into the EU. CETA may apply to a vehicle with preferential Canadian origin. Whether the requirements are met is assessed for the individual case. Please contact USCar Trader before purchase; we review the possible duty benefit and provide non-binding support. Import VAT and other costs are assessed separately.

How is import VAT treated when importing a Jeep Grand Wagoneer L?

Import VAT and other taxes or costs are assessed separately under the applicable rules and the circumstances of the individual case. A blanket answer for every vehicle would not be reliable.

How can a specific Jeep Grand Wagoneer L be checked from Germany?

Available VIN, title and history information can be reviewed in the vehicle profile. USCar Trader can also arrange a separately booked on-site inspection within a scope agreed in advance.

Do I have to be on site to buy a Jeep Grand Wagoneer L?

No. In line with the order, USCar Trader can coordinate seller contact, inspection, purchase processing, escrow and the subsequent import steps. The customer retains the purchase decision and approval.
